weekend (in dordogne).

I've never lived (or even spent much time) in the countryside, and I can't begin to describe the new, quiet feelings that come with it.

At first I felt so far away -- away from Charleston, away from people I love, away from everything. But after a little adjusting, I realized just how good being truly away can feel. Dordogne is like a little fairytale land, away from the real world and everything that remotely resembles it.

It's important for me to have times and experiences that change my perspective so constantly and so dramatically, that it's all I can do just to soak it in. This is that time.

so beautiful. you'll never forget this amazing experience. it's good to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while.

i love the beauty you see in everything. after college i too went off where no one else was and so many wonderful things came out of that decision. i'm sure the same will happen to you.

i couldn't agree more. really getting away from "normal life" is so important. i love the country for that reason. it is so quiet, the pace is so much slower, and you can delight in all of the little things. i love the city, but it can be tough to unwind and really quiet your mind. so glad that you are enjoying yourself and reaping the benefits. also, the beauty of the dordogne doesn't hurt. and the wine, too. :)

so beautifully written...cherish this time and soak every last minute of it in. You will look back at it and realize how special it was; that time you spent away from everything you new, everything you loved, and everyone you cared for. the time you spent making memories for yourself in lovely new places. these photos are beautiful olivia! simply beautiful. so happy you're enjoying yourself.

I so agree with your sentiment that it's important to have times and experiences that change your perspective. I feel the exact same way about travel. Being in a quiet place is a great way to reflect.

I can't believe it's still warm and nice somewhere! In Moscow we "enjoy" rain and fall..

I would have loved to stay there forever! This reminds me of the town where my grandmother and grandfather lived in Poland. I wish I could go back there, but there isn't anyone left to see there... Only memories...

Greetings from Norway
