On my first day in Valencia, after an exquisite lunch -- red wine, a colorful salad, calamari black bean soup, a paella type dish, and watermelon for dessert -- Sarah and I headed to the beach for much-needed siestas.

I don't even remember falling asleep, but when I woke up it was almost ten. The sky was turning all different shades of golds and pinks and while most people cleared out, we stayed to watch the sunset. I felt groggy and jet-lagged and overwhelmed, but I also couldn't help but feel a little giddy as the reality of my surroundings began to sink in.
(I'm in Spain!!!)
