nutella banana "ice cream."

nutella banana ice cream

Frozen treats are my weakness. I'm consistently plagued by the fact that caramel salted ice cream doesn't have the nutrition of say, broccoli rabe. It's just unfair.

nutella banana ice cream

Needless to say, discovering a dairy-free substitute made primarily of fruit is a dream come true. I haven't decided if I like this concoction better in ice cream or milkshake form... so that's the first-world problem I'm dealing with today.

(Non-approximate) directions: Blend one frozen banana, a tablespoon (or four) of nutella, a teaspoon of cocoa powder, and a splash of almond milk in a food processor. Pulse until creamy and delicious-looking. If you can't resist a spoonful at this point in the process, no one will judge you. If you are using a blender instead of a food processor, make a milkshake instead by adding extra almond milk.

It's not broccoli rabe, but it's a start.

Frozen treats are your weakness, while nutella is mine! Just thinking about it makes me go a little weak in the knees (yes, it's THAT serious).

I reeeally want to try this. It looks so easy and yummy. Also, thought you might like to know I tried one of your salted caramel brownie recipes a while back and failed miserably (booo). But I'm determined to get it right next time. It looks way too epic to not try again.

this is HUGE! bananas + nutella are a part of my everyday life in italy and now this recipe is too. i used to freeze a banana then dip it in melted nutella and then refreeze it for a cold treat. but i'm thinking i like this idea better. thank you! (and hey you can always have some broccoli after, to cancel it out.)

yumyumyumyumyum. as soon i get back to the states, where blenders are a common household object, i'm jumping on this bandwagon.

Not technically dairy-free, since Nutella contains milk, but still summarily delicious. :)

ah sara you're right! didn't think about that. for completely dairy free, i guess peanut butter would be the next best option!

I make this all the time, it's the best. I'd so rather have this than real ice cream, actually! Topped with granola, of course.

This sounds absolutely amazing! I visited some friends at the Jersey Shore recently and we had breakfast at a spot with to-die-for Nutella milkshakes... So excited that I've now got my own/your recipe to use! Thanks for sharing!

This is so delicious thanks for sharing! I made a good variation as well substituting honey and almond butter for cocoa powder and nutella. Super tasty as well!
