hailey gets a pixie.

DSC_0101

I don't know many people that would grab a pair of dull scissors and chop all of their hair off, but that is precisely what my friend Hailey* did.

hailey, before
hailey, terrified
hailey, chopping away
hailey, starting to love it

She knew she would eventually end up at a salon for shaping and styling, but she wanted to do the initial chopping herself (which I thought was beyond amazing).

Hailey is gorgeous enough to rock any hairstyle, but it takes serious guts to chop your hair off. Watching her, while giggling and screaming excitedly, was inspiring to say the least. It's just hair, and it will always grow back.

hailey, after (but before going to salon for shape-up)

Although, I kind of doubt she will want it to grow back -- a pixie suits pint-sized Hailey perfectly.

I love that she wanted to cut all the length off by herself! You can tell by the last picture how amazing she is with short hair. She has the best face for it!

oh man, this was me last summer! i have naturally thick and unruly hair that , in summer, is truly a nuisance. i just pumped up my music and took my craft scissors and promptly went to town! so liberating, but probably won't happen anytime again soon :)

she looks gorgeous! i love love it.

She is so brave! I go through a repeating cycle where I grow my hair long and then chop it off short, then I maintain that short cut all by myself. But never have I been the one to hold the scissors when cutting off more than a single inch of hair... She looks great with the new cut and I like her fearless DIY attitude about the whole thing!

Oh wow! I love that she was able to do that! :) Love the photos!
A friend once let me cut her hair into a pixie-do! It was incredible & for some reason neither of us were nervous...10 years later & I don't think I'd have the courage to do it! ;)

Oh man. That is so cool. When I cut my own hair, I only ever take like, a quarter of an inch off, and STILL it looks terrible. Hailey looks great!

Wow...I've often had the impulse to just chop my hair off too, but I doubt I could muster up enough guts to actually do it! Seeing someone who can is amazing to me!

That's so awesome! I would never look good with short hair but she's so pretty, I'm sure it suits her. Can you post updated pics when she gets it touched up at the salon?! :)

So brave of her! She is beautiful and could pull off any hair style!

That is admirable, I am certain that even with curly hair I would not be able to mask my mis-cuts and would have to think of a story to deflect the hairdresser's scolding...which means I would also have to invent imaginary children...and son on.

I did that once! She pulls it off so much better than I did though. I bet she loves it. So gutsy!

woah, she looks like sienna miller in factory girl/edie sedgwick in that last shot. so gorgeous. i'm jealous for (at least) two reasons: one, because she has the guts to do that, and two, because she can pull off a pixie. i so wish i could.
