homemade almond joys.

homemade almond joys

Since the moment I laid eyes on Joy's homemade almond joys, I knew I had to make them.

I have to warn you - making these almond joys is no walk in the park. They are a huge hassle and they will destroy your kitchen (notice the messy chocolate splattered everywhere*). At one point during the process, I was covered in melted chocolate with a sliced hand, slamming dishes around and growling under my breath.

homemade almond joys, sprinkled with sea salt

Somehow, magic happened. I sprinkled a little sea salt on top and was forever sold on these little beauties. One bite of homemade almond joy and all was forgiven. Sweet and salty bliss.

*They look super messy in these photos because they are super messy. But after hardening in the fridge and cleaning up around the edges, I promise they look presentable and actually pretty.

These look amazing. I find that the messier food looks, the better it tastes sometimes.

The cool thing about these is that you can always leave the almonds out and make homemade Mounds.

I was just looking at this recipe of hers! Good to know it's a tough one - I'll be sure to carve out a few hours to make them. :) Anything combination of almonds and chocolate - I'm in.

Almond Joys is by far my favorite candy bar! And they don't sell them here in Sweden, so I might give these a go. Mess be damned!

Holy macanoly, I have no WORDS! These look like they were professionally made. I'm sure they taste infinitely better than the packaged kind, which sucks for me because your description of the tedious process has officially deterred me (I'm what you might call a lazy cook)...enjoy 'em!

These sound absolutely delicious! Though I do hate to make a mess in the kitchen because I know that I'll have to clean it up, I think I'm going to try these soon - sometimes a little mess is worth a lot of chocolate-almond goodness!
