Ever since our indoor picnic a few weeks ago, mid-week dinner parties are routine.
Tips for a successful dinner party: invite friends who love to cook amazing food and drink red wine, go overboard with dessert i.e. make caramel salted and peanut butter pretzel brownies, gather in tiny kitchens, embrace moody lighting, and make puns. Most importantly, realize that perfection is not necessary.
*Lovely photos taken by everyone, including my friend Ben who is actually a real photographer and takes infinitely inspiring photos.

nothing better than a dinner party. yours looks magical.
Oh, I miss a good dinner party! My friends and I have gotten majorly lazy in this department, but I think it's definitely time to bring back the dinner party. Minus the perfection :-)
um i love this.....tradition starting now. the end.
Looks enchanting. Also thank you for the link to Ben's photos. So much to absorb there.
Oooo, can I come?
one of my favorite posts ever!!! looks AMAZING!!! the pictures are so pretty!!
Imperfect dinner parties are the best kind. Especially with friends who like cooking good food as much as you do.
This one looks lovely!
Sigh... this is so so lovely! Reminds me that I really need to have another dinner party soon. xo
Also, board games make dinner parties with friends so fun! :)

Yes. So perfect. I think midweek we all deserve a break! Hmm. Better go ask my apartment mates if they'd like to do this tomorrow. Love your flowers and candles! What an inspiration. :)
Thanks for the inspiration. I think I'll throw one next week!
Ben is my brother!! EEEk!! How fun. I love your blog and I loved the dinner party post. Then I read the bottom line and was excited to see the fun photo of Ben and you, and Joanie:)
Olivia, would you please be so kind as to do a home tour one day? I am sure you are as skilled a decorator as your are a cook! Also, you inspired me to make salted biscuits last evening, with parmaggiano, coarse salt and a bit of fruity olive oil. it was yummy and so easy to make!
Stunning in simplicity! I love the little jar vases.
ooookay that's it. i'm flying you to europe to come live here as my personal chef. no ifs and or buts.
