white chocolate spice cupcakes.

Even though we already had pumpkin and buttermilk pies, caramel salted brownies, and banana cake for Thanksgiving dessert,  I simply could not ignore this recipe I found in the New York Times. I went heavy on the spices (cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger), added a teaspoon of cinnamon to the icing, and topped it off with white chocolate shavings. The recipe needs zero alterations; the cake is bursting with Christmasy flavors, for which the white chocolate cream cheese icing is the perfect complement. The Irish Lads "didn't like them" at first (it's not your classic vanilla/chocolate kid-friendly cake) but by the end of the night, they had both gone back for seconds.

Cupcakes always win.

There's something about a spice cake, is there not? So Christmasy and delicious. If this one has the seal of approval, I may have to try it out this weekend!

The white chocolate shavings and the specks of cinnamon in the frosting are the perfect touch! I just made some pumpkin apple streusel muffins. Can we open a bakery together?
