Yesterday my friend Melissa and I went to lunch at Rue de Jean. I go there all the time (usually to satiate my truffle potato soup cravings) but this time we sat outside on the quintessentially Parisian patio, complete with woven bistro chairs, red awning, and simple linens. It felt like a mini escape from Charleston and reminded me just how much I miss/love/want/need France in my life.
Now if only I could speak actual French instead of just smiling, mumbling a few awkward sounds, and repeating "Je ne parle pas français." I'll work on it.

i just glanced through your france pics....so beautiful, all of them!
These photos literally tugged at my heart. I NEED Paris, too. beautiful!
i know how you feel, olivia! after spending over a year living in canada's french speaking province (québec), i'm itching to spend some quality time en france. i'm pretty seriously considering a teaching practicum in france next year! *fingers crossed*
Now I'm daydreaming of France. More macarons will have to suffice.
These are lovely- now I think I need a little more France in my life, too!
Hahahah, I was sitting here thinking, "Dang. Charleston looks exactly like France in these photos...crazy, crazy."
Then I realized those were actually pictures of France.
Beautiful.
Haha...THAT's the only thing I know to say in French too!
Well at least you can smile and just enjoy the place.....while many of us only dream of being there:)))))
I love reading "foreign" posts about Paris ! So many years that I know and visit this city (or work there) and still the same magic !
Just one thing, if I may, we don't say "Je ne parle pas du français", but "Je ne parle pas français" (but I know how hard it is to learn french !)
If you want to visit some "unknown" places in Paris, read my old post here : http://wildwoodflower-daybyday.blogspot.com/search/label/Tour%20de%20France
xx
yah i want to go too!
I'm day dreaming right along with you!
pretty, pretty, pretty! i love looking through your europe pictures. i can't wait to visit for myself....or possible live there one day!!!
Paris is so beautiful. My boyfriend and I were there for four days in March but I'm not sure if that was enough.
I definitely need to get back to Paris too, it surely leaves you wanting more when you visit! xxoo :)
If you like Rue de Jean, you'd really like The Fat Hen on John's Island.
I've been to Provence, Avignon, and the south of France and it is so beautiful. Something about the atmosphere, environment, and easy-going nature of the people there makes me want to slow down and admire the things around me. I'm from New York so you can imagine the change of pace it is for me!
ahhh i yearn for paris as well. i want to escape there with hubby riiiiight now.
i've been dreaming of it also. we're going in a month and I can't stop thinking about it.
it's worth it to learn french, by the way.
Traveling through France would make my life!
I need France. My french speaking skills just don't come in handy here in Texas. I need to get back there ASAP!
Ramblings of a Small Town Girl
i can't WAAAAAAIT to go in september! hopefully, some of my french will come back to me. i feel like i've already forgotten everything i learned last year. :/
when i'm in charleston (some day!), i need to go rue de jean. it sounds very charming.
Ohhh beautiful. I cannot wait to travel there someday. Love all of your pictures. Breathtaking!
my dream too! I would love to study film there - my mom actually supports this dream of mine as well, we should be neighbors :)
*also, I have Joel's cd for you!
i have been having very vivid dreams of wandering around france lately. i think my longing to go is affecting my sleep. ;) i must make the trip soon!
your photos are amazing! they make me want to go back immediately!
That's so sweet...!
Just for information : don't say "Je ne parle pas DU français". That's not correct.
Say : " Je ne parle pas français" or "Je ne parle pas le français".
Love your blog and your pictures...
Isabelle, from France !
I think you should move here!
