maple pound cake, with a maple brown sugar penuche icing.

I don't know why, but lately I feel that it is acceptable to make cakes for absolutely no reason at all. I made this maple pound cake with plans to take half to Cupcake and the other half to Tyler's house. Somehow it never made it to Tyler's.

I am obsessed with penuche icings, but have never gotten one to taste quite right before. I used this icing recipe and added half a teaspoon of maple extract. I could eat bowls of this icing. Someone save me.

I have never heard of penuche icings!.. Wow I saw the ingredients and I can see why it never made it to Tyler's!..butter and brown sugar- can't beat that.

I don't know how you do it--there is absolutely no way I'd be able to control myself in the presence of that cake! Homemade icing is impressive, by the way! :)

I think that you should make a cake for absolutely no reason other than you just want a slice of cake, good for you! Thanks for the recipe :).

Everything you make looks good, but this looks AMAZING. It's something my whole family would love so I think I'm gonna try making it for my grandpa's 75th in a few weeks. I can almost guarantee it won't look as nice as yours, but it sounds like it'll taste delish!

Looks wonderful - I'm making it this weekend! Did you add the walnuts to the recipe? Also - looks like you made it in a loaf pan? Does it make 2 loaf pans?
