downtown franklin.
3.12.2010
My mom and I walked to downtown Franklin a few days ago for some plate-hunting and yummy lunch. It's an adorably quaint town with a rich history (although that's all I could tell you, history has never been my forte). I used to feel so grown-up when my parents would drop my friends and me off in Franklin so we could walk around, buy ice cream, hang out at Starbucks, pretend like we were cool teenagers, etc.
It's so nice to be home.

Franklin looks like such a charming town! And that café looks like it would hit the mark right about now!

What a beautiful town! Also, you should make a map of the best bakeries in the south...or maybe the world.
Definitely looks like a wonderfully charming town...!! Happy weekend, Olivia! xxoo :)
We love downtown Franklin. Last time I was there, I had a delicious apple bacon panini from that bakery, I forgot the name.
Sadly, that wonderful Xochonocho shop moved... they had the best hot cocoa.
I love this post, and those desserts look divine!! I still go to cute downtowns, buy ice cream and get coffee so I can pretend I am a cool adult :). Wishing you the loveliest day!! XO
Looks like a cute town!
it's funny how quaint little downtowns have that feeling of making you feel more charming and sophisticated. we have always loved saying we "need to go into town." franklin is seriously adorable! and makes me crave a road trip. i love that you know its history is *rich* but that's the extent of it! kinda makes me want to look it up, but that knowledge doesn't stick very well with me either...though i want it to, i want to know all the strange and fascinating details about the history of every place i visit!
sooo cute! i remember being dropped off in a little downtown area with my friends and sitting at starbucks pretending to be cool too hahaha. is that a rite of passage?
man, i need to go to eastern north america bad. looks absolutely darling!
i saw your comment on Heart-of-light and blog hopped on over to your world. i'm loving it! i'm in Nashville and love your franklin post. have you ever gone to the Christmas dikens festival there?
oh this town looks adorable! I definitely used to think I was cool when my friends and I hung out at Starbucks. I think we all do it.
AH! DOWNTOWN FRANKLIN! one of my favorite places. and i spy meridees!! i always get there scones! delicious!
You just reminded me: I need to leave my room.
So cute it reminds of a neighborhood in Brooklyn called park slope (:
sigh isn't it funny to think of the days when our parents would drop us off, pre-license! so crazy how long ago that seems. beautiful pictures!
Haha, I was just about to say "I spy Meridee's!!" but someone else beat me to it. :) I emailed my old boss yesterday and was telling him I live in Franklin now -- I'd forgotten that he's a Civil War buff, so he already knew all about the town's history!
I love where you live and the towns around it. It's just so pretty and exactly the kind of place I dream about living someday!
How fun!! I just moved back to Franklin (my hometown) a few months ago, and I'm enjoying rediscovering its charm. :) Thanks for posting these lovely pictures!
Like you I too love to be outside ! What great pictures of a perfect little town! Maybe not so little?!
Love for you to stop on by my blog?!

Very pretty post!
Our names rhyme. ;)
Oh! I've been here!! Is this where you're originally from? Love the pictures:)
Which Franklin?? MY fam has a vacation home in Clayton, GA and we venture into Franklin, NC all the time!
this place is so cute! it's like a little storybook town.
i want that carrot cake!!
Wow, those buildings have amazing architectural details and colors.
Oh! and question: how do you get two photos side-by-side as if they are one photo? Noticed it in your post below. I can't figure it out!
i ADORE Downtown Franklin!!
Such a feeling of joy comes from simply walking around, and just at the least window shopping.
and Meridees is delicious!
(my brother and i would go out to breakfast with his friends every monday when he was a senior!)
AH! It just brings me so much joy you're from Franklin, too!
I could totally live in a town like Franklin. I love that "quaint" feeling.
