cauliflower gratin.

one of my favorite gifts i received for christmas was the goddess ina's barefoot in paris cookbook from tyler. usually i just take recipes as inspiration and try to improvise, but lately as an attempt to learn more than one way to cook vegetables (roasted with olive oil and sea salt), i've been seeking out new recipes. this cauliflower gratin recipe is definitely going to become a weekly (or bi-weekly) staple in my diet. the nutmeg and melted gruèyere cheese make it extra special. it's like a healthier, more grown-up version of macaroni and cheese (aka, the perfect food).

Looks delicious! I'll have to try it. I just adore Ina Garten. She always seems to have the most perfect recipe for simple, yet elegant dishes like this one. I got her Barefoot Contessa at Home cookbook for Christmas and I just love looking through all the great recipes.

my mom is a huge fan of ina! we've made this cauliflower gratin and i must say it is one of my favorite foods! i love cauliflower to begin with but this gratin is not too heavy, so it really highlights the flavor of the cauliflower and doesn't just try to hide it, you know?

This is one of my favorite dishes! Of course, this specific recipe is a little different from what I usually do. It's amazing how adding two ingredients makes everything so much fancier. I can't wait to try this version! Thanks for sharing!

If ever I'm stressed out and Ina is on, she just calms me right down, her and her curly-headed husband :)

Sounds amazing! And it would do me good to replace the macaroni with a vegetable.

That looks delicious! My husband hates cauliflower (because it it a vegetable and therefore to be loathed), but maybe I could just tell him it was a new kind of mac & cheese!

Mmm, sounds good! I love any kind of gratin. I made a kale gratin a few months ago, and my husband thought it was going to be really gross, but then it turned out to be one of his favorite things that I've ever made!

Grown up mac and cheese? I think I could handle this! Sounds delish as all your recipes do! Just want back through your posts and caught up on all I've missed recently (I've been a bad blog reader recently, tisk tisk). Anywho, so glad you had a lovely Christmas and New Year's. You very possibly have the most adorable family on earth!
