Yesterday we went to the cutest breakfast place of all time, called Three Little Birds. The bright yellow walls and friendly hippie waitresses created such a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The menu consisted of organic omelets, french toast, pancakes, granola, fresh fruit smoothies and juices. Yum yuummmmmm.
By two o'clock we were hungry again and decided to try another new place, Alluete's Cafe. It was one of the greatest decisions we have ever made. This tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the ghetto serves "Holistic Soul Food" which translates into fresh, southern cooking vegetarian/vegan style. Alluete was literally the only one in the kitchen, and we were the only ones in the restaurant besides a couple other regular customers. Apparently Alluete is an 11 year survivor of breast cancer, and wanted to share her delicious and healthy food with Charleston. I honestly felt like I was in my great-grandmother's kitchen watching her cook. Alluete only serves food she bought at the local market that morning. So the menu is always subject to change, depending on what she bought that morning. Why can't every restaurant be like this?
After Alluetes, we went out to the beach to hang out with Brad 's (Tyler's roommate) family who is renting a house for a week. I loved being out there with so many people. His family is so sweet and warm, and instantly make you feel welcome. Their close family is in an exciting and happy part of their lives, with one one-year-old, and another baby due in two months. We took a dozen cupcakes of course...
and the drive out to Isle of Palms was beautiful!
I even bought this poster, which I am thrilled to proudly display in my house for ever and ever.
Last thing... this morning Tyler made us a fritata with bell peppers, mushrooms, potatoes, goat cheese, and parmesan (recipe courtesy of Tyler's grandma)... We finished the whole thing. Why am I starting to feel like my life revolves around food...
