a twenty-four hour jaunt to savannah.

{a shop full of honey/tyler's personal heaven}

{the most amazing retro ice-cream shop and movie theater}

{one of the million unbelievably gorgeous houses in savannah}

{the closest we got to paula + tyler taking advantage of no open-container law}

{the candy shop was obviously our first stop}

{tyler being the map person + beautiful spanish moss}

{an adorable moonlit cruise we totally should have gone on}

{the best photo of us all weekend...}

although we kind of felt like we were just in a different part of charleston,
savannah is a very pretty little city. one of my favorite parts of our trip was
meeting the documentaries professor from scad (sav college of art and
design) at a little coffee shop on our way out of town. he brings his class
there so they can sit in comfy chairs and drink tea out of big mugs and talk.

the past few days have been really sad and emotionally overwhelming. last
thursday
, we found out my dear grandma rosie has pancreatic cancer. i
never know what to say in awful situations like these, but it was difficult for
me to fully enjoy savannah knowing someone i love so much is suffering.
this is all new for my family and we're just trying to take it one day at a time.

the winner of the giveaway is lindsay (#92).

Lovely pictures! So sorry to hear about your grandmother. These situations are never easy to handle.. .no matter how old you are or how many times you go through it. Just send lots of love and positive thoughts to her. That's what she needs most.

Oh honey, that's so awful about your grandma. I'm sending a million happy thoughts to you and your family and I hope things aren't too hard for you.

I'm so glad you like Savannah, I thought it was just beautiful when I was there. My dad said he thought I'd like Charleston even better, so that's my next destination if I'm ever around that way again :)

aw hun.. well first let me say im really happy you had such a great time. i know we arent going through the exact same thing.. but everything with my dad has overwhelmed me and its sort of felt like my life has just come to a hault and things are suddenly seen in another view. all i can say after going through this is keep your head up. show your emotions and dont be ashamed of them. take every chance to spend with your family i know its hard because youre so far away. im sending up a little prayer for your grandma, your family adn especially you right now. love u girl:)

Oh, so sorry to hear about your grandma! That's not easy. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. Make sure you take care of yourself during this time so you can emotionally handle the shock and sadness, also so you can have the energy to celebrate your relationship with her.

did you happen to make it out to tybee island? we got drunk on the beach there and it felt like we were in a dream world....completely alone and there was a swing in the moonlight if i recall. anyway it is nice to escape a little bit even when something dreadful is going on. not sure what stage it's in but good luck grandma rosie and the whole family. may every day bring strength, cheer, and liveliness. we will all be rooting/praying/meditating for you guys. with peace and love, heather

p.s. if you want to try reading something fascinating and poetic about cancer, grief, wilderness, survival and the environment i highly recommend Terry Tempest William's Refuge if you haven't read it yet. a truly beautiful book.

You probably already know this, but there's so much beauty in your life - delicately sift through the things which afford you happiness and meaning. That sort of thing always helps me to organize my thoughts and feelings.

Thoughts are with your family and grandmother. As someone who's gone through it myself, the best thing you can do is not only relish your time with her, but with all your other family members as well...
And I've always wanted to go to Savannah, it looks so dreamy!

These pictures are amazing! I'm so jealous you got to experience the beauty first hand. My roommate's boyfriend graduated from SCAD and he's always talking about how great Savannah is. Now I believe him!!
