sometimes i pretend i'm julia child living in paris with nothing to do but cook all day long.

{evidence of my new-found love for corn bread}

{gruyère}

{multiple nights of sweet potato fries}

{more cauliflower gratin with added asparagus}

i feel like i've been in the kitchen nonstop this week, which translates to "i had an amazing week." school has been overwhelming me lately, and sitting in class dreaming up ideas for recipes makes it a little more bearable. i'm not sure when i turned eighty years old, but i look forward to eating homemade meals with tyler and hanging out in my beautiful little apartment every day. since moving away from home, this apartment is the first place that truly feels like my own cozy escape from the world. i guess that's why i'm so appreciative/borderline obsessed with it.

Isn't that a wonderful feeling, when your home actually FEELS like home? Cooking always helps, too.

p.s. that gratin looks amazing.

I enjoy cooking and being in my kitchen and cozy home too - there is nothing better, especially this week when we are being pelted with nonstop rain.

I feel like I could have written this post. Not only have I a newfound love for cornbread, too; but yes, a week in the kitchen = best week ever. And lately I've been cooking for my Justin far more than usual and not going out like a normal 20something in Chicago should... But I'm perfectly fine with this!

haha you're not 80! It sounds like you just need a little rest and relaxation when you get home and cooking and relaxing with your man is doing the trick! I am happiest when I am at home cuddling on the couch after a delicious home-cooked meal :)

That's the best feeling, isn't it? Being ale to call your own little part of the world "home."

And you're seriously the best cook, everything looks so delicious!

your food is amazing - i'm envious of your ability to jump right in and try new things! and i'm glad you've found a new "home", that's such a good feeling.

i saw that someone left a really similar comment on your last post - but how do you make your sweet potato fries? i usually just chop them up + drizzle with olive oil + sea salt + ground garlic - but they still do often get mushy. any secrets?

Oh these pictures are making me hungry! That cauliflower gratin looks especially delicious! Isn't it nice when a new apartment finally starts to feel like a cozy home? Enjoy your weekend!!

That sounds delightful! I'm not a cook - at all! But I LOVE baking. I find on stressful weeks I bake and knit a lot! Maybe when we're 80 we'll go clubbing instead of doing the old lady things we do now. ;)

Every thing looks so tasty! Tyler must really enjoy eating all your wonderful food. You need to open your own little restaurant, and when you do I will definitely road trip to wherever it is.

YUMMMMM and that Gratin recipe like I have said before was AMAZING... Butter and Gruyere make everything better. I too, pretend I am Julia Child living in Paris... it's fantastic and the smells that exit my apartment make all the neighbors come over asking what's for dinner... ok maybe not that but it sure is amazing!!! I love your photos, and passion for life!! Have a lovely weekend!! xo

Now I'm hungry!!

For gruyere cheese/gratin.
And Paris. Always Paris.

Sorry school is stressful. One day you'll look back and think fond thoughts of your college days, and wonder why you stressed about it.

Off to cook something...

Oh, cornbread. You make me drool. No, seriously, looking at your picture of your cornbread literally made me drool a bit. Don't judge.

Last time I was at Souplantation I may or may not have eaten five cornbreads. *sigh* Mmmm.
