rain drops and chocolate chips just go together.

when it rains in charleston, it pours. and floods. and makes everyone in the entire city miserable. the only circumstances that i approve of this rain are when i am cozy inside with zero obligations.

but yesterday i suprised myself by putting on my rain boots, grabbing my umbrella and going for a walk. i then realized that there was nothing in the world i wanted to do except bake chocolate chip cookies. seems like such an obvious choice but i can't remember the last time i baked them. i followed the classic tollhouse recipe and ate one (or four) straight from the oven. i made sure to save half of the dough for tyler since it is his favorite part. these delicious little cookies also gave me the extra bit of motivation i needed to go to hot yoga. thank you cookies, i love you.

Yum! I made these this weekend too, in rainy Columbia.

I lived in downtown Charleston for 7 years (including 4 yrs at 68 1/2 Ashley & 3 months at 70 Rutledge, very very close to you), just found your blog, and am SO enjoying a peek back where I left my heart through your words and photos. Thanks!

Where do you go to yoga? Charleston Power Yoga?

i baked last night too...but i tried these oatmeal cookies made from applesauce so they're fat free and vegan (since i'm not going to hot yoga)...and whoospy...rather bland. but i had added chocolate chips so that made everything okay! anyway i am in total agreement that the only time a full-on rainy day is acceptable is when you have nothing to do but cozy up and read a book under blankets by the window!

I love classics and chocolate chip cookies are the best!!! I have found that if I melt the butter before mixing it in that my cookies come out oh so fluffy. My favorite cookies are the kind with just one or two chocolate chips... I love love the cookie itself!! Your rainy day looks enticing being that you were baking. Hope all is lovely!! xo

hey, it's supposed to snow here where I live... so, it may not be raindrops, but that's reason enough for me to make cookies very very soon :)

good old charleston weather, huh? and now it's all wind! it's fun after the rain is over, because then the rain boots are still necessary but there are alllll the puddles (:

i've never actually had tollhouse cookies, but yours look amazing! will definitely be trying out that recipe soon!

I'm sure you've heard this many times before, but your photography is REALLY inspiring. You seriously have a gift. And while I'm not passionate about cooking, I'm passionate about photographers who make cooking look beautiful. Still loving your blog, lady!
